CASED 1/9 PLATE AMBROTYPE BY DEWEY PITTSFIELD, MASS - WOMAN IN HER ORNATE BONNET-She was all decked out in her best decorated bonnet on this day in either 1859 or 1860 when she visited Mr. Rodney Hatch Dewey's photographic studio in Pittsfield,Massachusetts. How do I know this image was created specifically to one of these two years you ask? Well, John Craig's Daguerreian Registry has this information and located Mr. Dewey at 48 North Street during his two years as an Ambrotypist. His rather bold and sharply focus likeness is housed in a full case and ready to join your collection of 19th Century photographs. Good luck to all my fellow hard image collectors landing this fine portrait.CONDITION:Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this item and as part of my description. The image contains amazing contrast, tonal range and sharpness. Mr. Dewey's stamp appears in the lower left corner of the mat. The image resides in a full case with split hinge, working clasp and a bold red velvet pillow. Please note the unusual exterior design found on the this case.I will ship this item to the lucky winner by way of USPS 1st Class Mail.
