This fantasticcard is one in a series of cards issuedby the H.J. Heinz Co. and was issued in 1936. One was insertedinto each package of Heinz Breakfast Wheat and Rice Flakes cereal. The series is designated as series F227-4 in Burdick’sAmerican Card Catalogue and is entitled“Famous Aviator Pictures” This serieswas issued from 1936-39. Only the 1936series is considered the 1st Series and is indicated by the “32236”print number found on the back. Afterthe 1936 year, 5 of the cards were pulledand replaced in the set in subsequent years. (those have different printnumbers on the back indicating year of issue, and are considered the SecondSeries F277-4b in the A.C.C.). Findingthese true first series cards are tough. Eachcard features a beautifully illustrated image of the featured Pilot., while theback features advertising (and a rare premium map offer) and a brief bio. ofthe Pilot. This card is #11 in the series and Features Clarence Chamberlin Here is some information I found about her onthe internet: Clarence Duncan Chamberlin (November 11, 1893 –October 31, 1976) was an American pioneer of aviation, being the second man topilot a fixed-wing aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean, from New York to theEuropean mainland, while carrying the first transatlantic passenger.
The Card measures 3 inches by 1 7/8 inches approximately. The card has some lighter creases and wear. Ihave scanned the front and back ofthe card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself. Finding these first series cards istough. Don’t miss out.
