$34.99
Real photograph postcard view of a store and gasstation in West Canaan, New Hampshire, by the Eastern Illustrating Co.,postmarked Lebanon, N.H., probably 1918. The view, entitled The Pines, WestCanaan, N.H., 204, shows a tidy two story building set behind a grove of tallpine trees. There’s a large Socony sign at left, but I don’t see a gas pump. Acompanion view, 203 from EIC, has a gas pump by the porch. In that view, youread the sign above the porch that reads H.I. Webster & Sons, West Canaan,Post Office and Store. The card was sent to John C. Bugbee (1902-1977) in OldLyme, Connecticut, by his parents. The postcard is in very good posted conditionwith only minor wear and soiling. Note the bumping at the corners of the card. The photograph exhibits very good tonal range and shows very good detail. Anice early gas station and West Canaan NH image!
