NECROLOGY

1895-96

Prepared forthe Alumni Association

and

Presented atits Annual Meeting, June 10, 1896

Published:Boston, MA, Beacon Press

1896

A ratherinteresting collection of obituaries, circa 1895-1896 of Alumni and some non-graduatesof the Andover Theological Seminary,.

Interestinglyprinted in this collection are obituaries of Edward Beecher, son ofLyman Beecherand thebrother ofHarriet Beecher Stowe andHenry Ward Beecher, and theobituary of Samuel Francis Smith whowrote the lyrics to “America”, (MyCountry, \'Tis of Thee).

I am sure there are other notable obituaries amongthe 56 which are printed in the pamphlet. It will be fun research.

Bound in printedwrappers, stapled binding, pp. 181-235, 5 ½ x 9 inches, some unobtrusive faint age tanning and light soiling to frontcovers otherwise in very good condition, tight and intact, odor free, notex-library.

Pencilnotation on the front cover: Rev. Louis McDonald Obituary. The Rev. was of the class of 1826 and in hisobituary it states that “his mind became unsettled and was an inmate of theVermont Asylum at Brattleboro until his death”

A truly rarecopy of this title, no copies for sale at on line bookseller sites and aWorldCat search locates no copies in institutional holdings. This is a niceopportunity to add this to a history of 19th century Americanreligions reference library.

Domesticshipping will be $3.25 by safely packed first mail; Canada will be $12.50 and internationalshipping will be $18.50.

PayPal accepted.
