This sale is for an original hand written and signed letter by John Howard Payne dated April 4, 1850. The letter says \"Private\" at the top and also includes his personal JHP stamp. John Howard Payne was the writer of the song \"Home! Sweet Home!\" which was one of President Abraham Lincoln\'s favorites. This letter is in good condition especially with it being over 170 years old. There is some writing in pencil on the front and back as you can see in the pictures. On the side of the letter, there is 52 and 1/3 on the bottom right hand corner. On the back of the letter and back of the sheet it says \"follow title page\". Again, the extra writing is in pencil. The letter size is approximately 9x15. Please see the pictures to read the letter for yourself and see the condition of the letter.
