An astonishing artifact of Americana, this Dewey-Chicago Triplet floor model slot machine is the only one of its kind known to exist today. Created by the Mills Novelty Company of Chicago, this remarkable machine is actually three slot machines in one oak case that play for a nickel, quarter and half-dollar amounts. Impeccably crafted and in superb working condition, this Mills slot machine is arguably the most important to ever come on the market. The Mills Dewey, along with its sister machine, the Mills Chicago, were the company\'s top-of-the-line slot machines, introduced to compete with the popular Puck model by Caille. This Triplet model features a pair of Dewey machines flanking a Chicago in the center. The Dewey\'s allow for 6-way play, while the Chicago allows for 5, meaning a maximum of either 6 or 5 coins can be played at once. This incredible triple slot machine is further distinguished by the inclusion of a cylinder music box that was activated when the machine was played. The Dewey and the Chicago were almost identical, differing primarily in the decoration of the circular glass panel. The Dewey was named in honor of its namesake, the war hero Admiral Dewey, while the Chicago was embellished with an array of patriotic symbols, namely the symbol of Chicago, a goddess with a crown of a phoenix rising from the flames. Known as the \"I Will\" woman, she was adopted as an emblem of the city after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.In terms of construction, this triple-slot displays Mills\' finest workmanship. The oak cabinet features high-relief carving of the highest order detailed with a motif of leaves and scrolls with fluted columns both between each slot. The impeccably cast brass mounts feature a level of intricacy worthy of such a remarkable creation, including the regal paw feet upon which this monumental machine rests. The Mills Dewey-Chicago Triplet was introduced in 1903 and produced until 1916. It is estimated that Mills created 583 of these grand slot machines. The majority of early gaming machines, including these grand slots, were destroyed when gambling was outlawed in the first quarter of the 20th century. This very machine is the only Triplet of its kind that is known to have survived. Bears the Mills \"Owl\" trademark77 3/4\" wide x 17 3/4\" deep x 69\" high
