VINTAGE STYLESTICKERApproximate Size -3" DiameterHashim's Automotive opened in Bakersfield, California in 1953.It was the annual gathering place for luminaries such as Don Garlits, Chris Karamesines, and Connie Kalitta.Owner Ernie Hashim earned a reputation as an unselfish individual who became a friend to everyone he met during a career that spanned more than six decades.
A successful racer in circle-track, Salt Flats, and Top Fuel, Ernie Hashim is also known as the Godfather of the Blown Chrysler Hemi as he helped develop one of the first front-mounted supercharger configurations for his dragster.This dragster broke the 150-mph barrier in Bakersfield in 1955. In 1958, the Hashim, Hylton & Crossley Top Fuel entry broke the 170-mph barrier with a 170.45-mph run in Bakersfield.Hashim is also well known for setting records at El Mirage, Muroc, and the Bonneville Salt Flats.His claim to fame was stomping Garlits when he came to Bakersfield in 1956.
