“Whereas, in the late war between Great Britain and the United States of America, a body of the Oneida and Tuscorora and the Stockbridge Indians, adhered faithfully to the United States, and assisted them with their warriors; and in consequence of this adherence and assistance, the Oneidas and Tuscororas, at an unfortunate period of the war, were driven from their homes, and their houses were burnt and their property destroyed : And as the United States in the time of theirdistress, acknowledged their obligations to these faithful friends, andpromised to reward them : and the United States being now in a condition to fulfil the promises then made : the following articles are stipulated by the respective parties for that purpose; to be in force when ratified by the President and Senate…” (p.1 col.2).
Reports of an Indian attack. “We had a treaty with the Cherokees the 18th of December, and the 8th inst. They fell upon a party of men from our settlement, and killed one and wounded two…” (p.1 col.4)
Contains a report of “…a meeting of a number of respectable freeholders and citizens of the town of Renslearwyck, held at John Staats’ tavern, on Tuesday evening the 27th of January, 1795…Resolved unanimously, That this meeting approve of the nominations of John Jay, as a candidate for the office of Governor…” (p.1 col.5).
