EARLY WOOD PLANE COLLECTION~ Taber Plane Co ~This is nice collection of 2 early wood planes by different makers.
1. TABER PLANE CO PLANE DESCRIPTION:Round. Length: 9-5/8\". Width: 1-1/2\". Blade width: 1-1/8\". Front of plane is stamped \"TABER PLANE CO, NEW BEFORD, MASS\". Back end of plane is stamped \"16\".MAKER STAMP INFO:This stamp can be found inA Guide to the Makers of American Wooden Planes(4th Ed., Pollack/Elliott). \"The Taber Plane Co made planes in New Bedford, MA from 1866-72. In 1866 the company succeeded J. & W. Lamb and acquired the rights to the Feb 28, 1865 patent of Wing H. Taber and Thomas H Abbott. William G Lamb and James H. Lamb were officers of the company. It ceased operations in 1872 and was succeeded by the New Bedford Tool Co.\" This appears to be the A Stamp, rated FF (Frequently Found).
2. UNMARKED PLANE DESCRIPTION:Round. Length: 9-1/2\", Width: 11/16\". Blade width: 1/2\". No visible maker stamp on front. Back of plane is stamped \"8\".
