Brigham Young Mary Ann Young Signed 1873 Land Deed Salt Lake City Mormon Rare:
Historic and significant 1873 DEED document agreeing to sell Salt Lake City land signed by both Brigham Young and his first wife Mary Ann Young. Also signed by “D. McKenzie,” and “James Jack,” 4 page deed indenture in which Young agrees to sell land in Salt Lake City to L. Grand Young for $5,000. Signed on front, notary seal inside.
Brigham Young succeeded the murdered Joseph Smith as head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1844. Young founded Salt Lake City and led the mass migration of Mormons to the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah and served as the first Governor of the Territory of Utah (1849-1857). Dubbed the “American Moses” Young was a polygamist who had 55 wives. His leadership is credited with settling much of the American West.
