Nelson Story participated in the vigilante committees that ultimately hanged 21 criminals, including Henry Plummer. His Business ventures in Bozeman were so successful that he became the town's first millionaire. Gallatin , a siding/railroad spur was named for Nelson Story who drove the first herd of Texas Cattle into Montana in 1866 bringing them into Gallatin Valley where Fort Ellis was later located.
