Vintage Wade & Butcher “The Celebrated” straight razor manufactured in Sheffield, England.This is a large and substantial example measuring approximately 0.95” from spine to cutting edge, putting it at about 15/16” and very close to a full 1” blade.The razor features a desirable barber’s notch and the classic heavy Sheffield blade profile associated with early Wade & Butcher razors.The tang is clearly stamped:MANUFACTURED BYWADE & BUTCHER
SHEFFIELDThe blade retains portions of the original “The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor” etching along with the decorative trademark. The etching is worn and faint in areas but is still visible.The blade shows honest vintage wear including scratches, staining, polishing marks and scattered surface pitting. I have not attempted to over-polish the blade and remove its original character.The dark horn scales appear to be original to the razor. They show age-related cracking near the pins, but the cracks are stable and the scales remain solid and functional. I chose to leave the original horn scales in place rather than replace them.The razor opens and closes properly.A vintage two-piece razor box is included. I cannot confirm that the box was originally supplied with this particular razor.Details:Wade & Butcher
