Small Chinese/East Asian Celadon Ribbed Jar–Longquan Style?Private Collector:

Offered for sale is a small and attractive East Asian celadon-glazed ribbed ceramic jar or vessel, measuring approximately 2¾ inches tall and 3 inches at its widest point.
The piece features a rounded, vertically ribbed body with a muted olive/gray-green celadon-type glaze. It has an approximately 2-inch opening and a short unglazed foot measuring approximately 1½ inches across.
The form, ribbing, glaze color, and overall appearance are reminiscent of Chinese Longquan-type celadon wares, although I am not representing this piece as an authenticated Longquan, Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, Goryeo, or other specific-period work.
PROVENANCE
This piece came from a private collection acquired directly from a gentleman who was 91 years old at the time the collection was purchased.
The collector primarily collected Japanese and Asian art, with a particular interest in Meiji-period Japanese material. He had lived in the same apartment for approximately 30 years before moving to assisted living.
I understand that a substantial portion of his collection was acquired through a dealer in New York State during those years.
I purchased this piece as part of a larger group from his collection.
While the provenance is interesting, it should not be interpreted as proof of a particular age or piece is being offered as:
Unattributed East Asian celadon-type ceramic — possibly Chinese Longquan style.
The shape and decoration are comparable in general form to documented small Chinese Longquan celadon vessels. However, this piece has not been professionally authenticated or scientifically tested, and I am leaving the final determination of age and origin to the buyer.
I have intentionally not represented this piece as a confirmed Song, Yuan, Ming, Korean Goryeo, or other period example.

CONDITION
The vessel shows extensive glaze crazing, surface variation, and areas of discoloration consistent with the appearance shown in the photographs.
There are also surface irregularities and wear around the unglazed foot/base.
I do not see an obvious major repair in the areas visible to me, but I cannot guarantee that the piece has never been repaired or restored.
There is no visible signature or maker\'s mark.
