Red Poppies Embossed Floral Printed Postcard Posted 1907 Proctorsville VT:
$4.99

A charming early divided-back era embossed floral postcard featuring a vivid bouquet of two large red poppies with golden centers, accompanied by green foliage and a small bud on a trailing stem. The flowers are rendered in rich chromolithographic inks with strong embossing that gives the blossoms a three-dimensional, raised quality. Silver outlining accents the petals and stems, typical of high-quality European floral greeting cards of the period. The background is an unprinted cream linen-textured card stock. The back follows the standard divided-back format introduced in 1907, with multilingual postal designations including German (Postkarte), French (Carte postale), Hungarian, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Russian and others — indicating this card was likely printed in Germany or Austria-Hungary for the international export market, common practice in the Edwardian postcard golden age. The card was posted on September 11, 1907, from Proctorsville, Vermont, with a clear circular date stamp and a one-cent green Franklin stamp (Scott #300 series). It was addressed to Miss Ethel Smith at P.O. Box 291. A handwritten message in period cursive is partially legible on the left message panel. Condition is Very Good. The embossing remains crisp and undamaged. There is light age toning consistent with over 115 years of age, minor corner softening, and the stamp is affixed neatly. A lovely example of Edwardian-era embossed floral postal art with original postmark and period correspondence.
