“MakeOrwell Fiction Again”

Five DoublePlusGood Slogan Buttons

Aset of five 1.25" buttons based on the novel 1984 and a sloganof Donald Trump: "Make Orwell Fiction Again."

NineteenEighty-Four, often published as 1984, is a dystopian novel publishedin 1949 by English author George Orwell. The novel is set in AirstripOne (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstateOceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent governmentsurveillance, and public manipulation. The superstate and itsresidents are ruled by a political regime euphemistically namedEnglish Socialism, shortened to "Ingsoc" in Newspeak, thegovernment's invented language. The superstate is under the controlof the privileged elite of the Inner Party, a party and governmentthat persecutes individualism and independent thinking as"thoughtcrime", which is enforced by the "ThoughtPolice".

"MakeAmerica Great Again" (often abbreviated as MAGA) is a campaignslogan used in American politics that was popularized by Donald Trumpin his 2016 presidential campaign. Ronald Reagan used the similarslogan "Let's make America great again" in his successful1980 presidential campaign. Pollster Douglas Schoen has calledTrump's use of the phrase as "probably the most resonantcampaign slogan in recent history," citing large majorities ofAmericans who believed the country was in decline. The slogan hasbecome a pop culture phenomenon, seeing widespread use and spawningnumerous variants in the arts, entertainment, and politics. In theTrump era, Voice of America has called the slogan a loaded phrasebecause it "doesn't just appeal to people who hear it as racistcoded language, but also those who have felt a loss of status asother groups have become more empowered."

Ifyou believe that the world is more like 1984 than 2019, let thisbutton set say you wish it would all go away. One for yourself, twoto give as presents, two to surprise strangers with! Looks great on your very long tie, just amazingon your crimson baseball cap, and astounding on your expensive suit!
