Henry May Brent was US Consul to Peru, appointed by President Lincoln during the War. He came from a prominent family- he and his sister Catharine Brent Fitzhugh of Maryland were kin of Abolitionist Gerrit Smith. An Original CDV Photo of Brent seated, taken during the Civil War era, the reverse pencil inscribed \'\"Henry Brent Esq Li ma, South America\". , with a Lima, Peru photographer backmark. The image is in excellent condition and comes with bio info. I obtained thes from the photo album of the Gerrit Smith Backus family - (Backus was a grand- nephew of the Abolitionist & Presidential Candidate Gerrit Smith.) and his wife grand-niece of Maryland patriot Daniel Carroll.Comes with bio info.Welcome to my store.
