The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, better known as the New Haven (NYNH), was a regional railroad that served Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York, with its end points at Boston and New York City. It provided freight, passenger and commuter services. Formed in 1872, it operated independently until 1968, when as a result of financial difficulties, the Interstate Commerce Commission forced it to merge with the Penn Central, which later became a part of Conrail. Surviving lines of the NH are now primarily owned by CSX Transportation, and some portions are used for commuter rail services. For sale is a General Mortgage Income Bond, Convertible 4 1/2% Series A for $100. It is dated January 1, 1949. The bond measures appx 15x10 inches and is printed on mid-weight paper. It is in excellent condition. All writing/markings are from its preparation and processing. It has no rips or tears but has the customary cancellation punch holes.
