Incredibly rare preliminary transportation map prepared for the Bechtel company. This map is from the estate ofEdward Joseph Eisele Jr., who was recruited by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) to establish telecommunications across the 750+ mile pipeline route. He went on to serve with the CIA and NASA.The pipeline project was interrupted and re-planned due to the outbreak of multiple conflicts and the establishment of the State of Israel. The map here is a very early representation of the region, prior to the borders that would be established within the next few years.
This map is a unique piece of history reflecting the evolving politics of the Middle East, oil industry development in the region, and US-Middle East relations.
