Pair of original 1918–1919 basketball team real photo postcards believed to be from East Mauch Chunk High School, East Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania, now Jim Thorpe.
Both photographs show teams identified by the visible E.M.C.H.S. lettering, with the 1918–19 season marked on the basketballs. Included are the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from the same school and season.
These were found together in an early Pennsylvania family scrapbook with other material connected to the Mauch Chunk / East Mauch Chunk area.
Both are original period photographic postcards, not modern reproductions. One retains its visible postcard back with divided address/message area and stamp box.
The girls’ postcard was successfully removed from the scrapbook and still has scrapbook mounting paper attached behind portions of the image. The boys’ postcard was firmly glued to the scrapbook page, so the surrounding album paper was carefully cut around the postcard rather than attempting to separate it and risk damage. The original scrapbook paper therefore remains adhered to the back.
Photographs show typical age-related wear including edge/corner wear, light surface wear, toning and mounting residue. Please review all photographs carefully for exact condition.
