Original 1885 silverware manufacturing invoice from R. WALLACE & SONS MANUFACTURING COMPANY of Wallingford, Connecticut, an important American producer of silver and plated tableware during the late 19th century. The document measures approximately 8.5 × 8.5 inches and features an ornate Victorian-style illustrated letterhead with decorative floral engraving and a ribbon emblem surrounding the company name.

The invoice is dated May 4, 1885, issued from Wallingford, Connecticut, and addressed to Messrs. A. Tolman & Co., Wichita, Kansas. The order lists various pieces of silver-plated tableware, including spoons, forks, and sets of plated items, reflecting the types of household and dining wares that Wallace produced during the period.

R. Wallace & Sons was one of the most prominent American silver manufacturers of the 19th century, known for producing both sterling silver and silver-plated flatware and hollowware. The company later became associated with the well-known Wallace silver brand, whose designs remained popular well into the 20th century.

The document also includes handwritten accounting entries, shipping notes, and a printed statement reading “This invoice is net. No discount can be allowed.”, typical of business paperwork from the era.

Victorian silverware billheads like this are sought after for their ornate engraved letterheads, early American manufacturing history, and decorative design elements.
