Reproduction Vintage Sunderland Lusterware Jug Shipwrights Arms - James Leech:
$20.00
This nice reproduction Sunderland Luster / Lustre jug shows no manufacturers name or mark. Only the number 5552/2 is seen on the underside. One side shows a black transfer of the ship 'Caroline' and the other side shows a black transfer of 'The Shipwrights Arms'. Under the spout is a US 'Spread Eagle' with the name 'James Leech' below. It appears that the makers mark has been ground out of the base. From my research I believe that these jugs were produced by various companies, possibly Adams Pottery of England (not Greys Pottery which I originally thought) and date from the 1940's era. There were several designs made and the name 'James Leech' appears on quite a few. These pieces are often sold as originals !! But don't be fooled !!. Pitcher measures just under 4-7/8" tall x 4-1/2" in dia. It comes in great condition with no chips or cracks. There is one faint hairline flaw to the rim that has been glazed over and obviously done during firing. Buyer pays only actual shipping costs with no added charges. Shipping within the USA will be $10.00 using USPS mailing service. Good Luck !! Please take a few moments to view other listings for more interesting items. Thanks.
