We are offering two letters from New England Oyster Co., 4 Canal St., Haymarket Square, Boston to F.D. Pollard, Proctorsville, Vermont. [Fred D. Polland was co-owner of Moore & Pollard General Store in Proctorsville, Vermont] Also, there are four New England Oyster Co. unused envelopes that were enclosed for Pollard to send in his orders.1.) Letter dated September 1, 1887 - soliciting orders from Pollard for oysters for the upcoming season.
2.) Letter dated September 22, 1888 - Essentially says they are aware of consumers\' demands for \"strictly fresh-opened\" oysters, and consequently, have abundantly stocked their oyster beds at Conimicut Point, Rhode Island with Native Seed Oysters. \"These oysters we shall take up, open and sell at the same price our competitors ask for oysters opened at their shops in Norfolk, VA..... last season our business increased over 50 per cent, by our offering fresh opened, native Providence River Oysters.
