Stereoview of a railroad crossing (note the gates),tracks and passenger cars at Braintree, Massachusetts. Photo was taken August 4, 1902. This stereoview is from a group of photosrelated to the Calvin M. Nichols family. These stereoviews were photographed by a member of the C.M. Nichols\' family, and the views were certainly produced in small numbers, and, in fact, may be one-of-a-kind.
This stereoview is part of a group of stereoviewsrelated to Calvin M. “Cal” Nichols and his family. Nichols was a long-time employee of The HoytCompany, a hardware company in Boston, where he ultimately became president ofthe company. The Nichols family had asummer residence, apparently right on the ocean, at South Hingham, which isdepicted in some of the stereoviews. Theother stereoviews depict locations special to the family, family activities, and family members. Dates of thestereoviews are from 1900 thru 1908. Thephotographer is not identified, but clearly it was a member of the Nichols’family & possibly the family patriarch Calvin M. Nichols.
