Antique Stereoview Photo ~ Downers Landing Dock ~ Melville Garden ~ Higham, Massachusetts
- In pencil it appears to be written “Downers Pavilion”.
- I believe the stereoview depicts the main steamboat dock at Downer Landing the was located in Higham, Mass.
- The ships dropped off visitors at Downer Landing, ( present day Hingham Yacht Club). Once visitors arrived, they were in for an afternoon and evening filled with dancing, bowling, fine dining and fireworks at Melville Garden.
- The tourist destination was essentially a Victorian-era amusement park. Melville Garden had its own hotel, a clambake house, and a music hall.
Some minor corner ware, old age toning, spiting and light soiling.
