Antique Plate \"Cape Girardeau\" Sternwheel Steamer Wheelock Pottery 1900s:
$36.00
-Plate commemorating the sternwheel steamship Cape Girardeau.-Plate was made in Germany for Wheelock Pottery, which operated from the late 1800s through the early 1900s.-At least three sternwheelers sailed under the name Cape Girardeau. This plate presumably portrays the first one, which sailed as the Cape Girardeau from 1901 until it sank in 1910.-Plate was made for J. B. Schneider of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Schneider was presumably a merchant who sold it or, gave it away as a promotional item.-Plate diameter is 6 inches.-Plate is in very good used, antique condition.-Plate has some minimal wear, but no chips, cracks, crazing, or stains.-The full-color transfer in the middle of the plate is in very good condition, with good detail and rich colors.-The plate has a hand-painted double band of gold around the edge--it shows a bit of wear.-Plate is very clean and is ready to display!
