Abraham Lincoln Cast Iron Bookends Pair “Emig 1558” Bronze Colored VTG c.1960s:
$37.49
This pair of Abraham Lincoln bronze colored cast iron bookends are 6” tall and are in lovely preowned condition as shown. They were molded after the bust of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, and were made by the company founded by Robert Emig and named after him who specialized in making various bookends during the Mid Century Period, which is when they were most active.
The front of each bookend resembles the exact same side profile of President Lincoln that you see on your pennies, with a flat semi-circle base lined with black felt for protection of the base to support each bust. The pattern on each bookend is made to resemble carved wood, but since these nearly identical twins are made solely of cast iron, the wood pattern is known as faux wood. The back of each bookend is a beige color with a molded impression of Abe's face, the watermark of Emig and model number near the base of the bookends which is "EMIG 1558"; both have a “3” on the neck area as well.
The condition is very good with some signs of aging, wear and use as shown due to the passage of time. Functionality and charm of bookends are not affected.
Approx measurements: 6 inches (height), 4 & 1/2 inches (width)
