About Orleans, Vermont 
Village in the town of Barton, Orleans County
As the village of Barton Landing (so named for its location on the Barton River) grew in size and economic importance, residents began to feel that the name made it seem subsidiary to Barton village. In 1909, Barton Landing became Orleans. Though Ethan Allen never had anything to do with furniture manufacture, the company which bears his name has a plant in Orleans, and is the major employer in the area.
