An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage sterling silver Lincoln pattern flatware service for twelve persons; an addition to our canteen of cutlery collection
The pieces of this exceptional vintage George VI silver canteen of cutlery / flatware service for 12 persons have been crafted in the Lincoln pattern.
The plain tapering handle of each piece is embellished with Art Deco style tiered decoration with a stepped-down top; this pattern was designed by Harrison Bros & Howson.
The anterior surface of each handle bears the impressive contemporary bright cut engraved initial 'R'.
This vintage Sheffield canteen of cutlery consists of 77 pieces:
12 Table forks
12 Soup Spoons
12 Dessert forks
12 Dessert spoons
6 Coffee spoons
Pair of sauce ladles
4 Serving spoons
4 Salt spoons
The components of this service have been crafted by the Sheffield silversmith and flatware maker George Howson of Harrison Brothers & Howson between 1946-1949; the pieces will have been crafted in less years but due to the hallmarking system the items are struck with the date letters D, E and G.
These impressive examples of vintage silverware are supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing.
This vintage silver canteen set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each handle are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of vintage silverware.
