History: GRAAD/NVBAA is an organization in Las Vegas that does STEM teaching t local high school kids.Nevada Business Aviation Association (NVBAA) was founded with the mission to connect the State of Nevada’s Aviation and Aerospace stakeholders from the North to South, in order to advocate for economic development, STEM Education, and infrastructure improvement of Nevada’s airports.
Today NVBAA has more than 450 members, and the aviation after-school program started and sponsored by NVBAA has won the GAMA Aviation Design Challenge National Championship. In collaboration with statewide stakeholders, NVBAA members across Nevada came together (for the 1st time in over 3 decades) to support a bill for an aviation industry incentive program which was passed into law in 2015, giving sales & use tax and property tax abatements to qualifying aviation/aerospace organizations for up to 20 years. The positive economic impact of this industry incentive was felt nearly immediately.
When NVBAA was founded, The State of Nevada did not have a single FAA Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME), and now we have 2. NVBAA continues to advance Nevada’s aviation industry, and bring STEM Education to Nevada’s youth.NVBAA in partnership with GRADD (Global Robot And Drone Deployment) founded the Aviation Post 888, to serve youth 13-20 years old in the Las Vegas Area Council of Boy Scouts. This non-profit+industry partnership has also created the FREE 3D Printing Education and services for Nevada, NV3D.org.
Our Nationally-recognized, Award-winning STEM Education initiatives have garnered the attention of other states. It is our highest priority to provide opportunities for underrepresented youth to learn about and explore careers in aviation, aerospace, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).We look forward to forging new industry partnerships, and exploring new relationships that enhance our ability to reach underrepresented youth in at-risk schools.
