UNIQUE FRENCH BAKER’S EBONIZED & MOTHER OF PEARL INLAY WALL CLOCK ~ (CIRCA 1875):

This exceptionally beautiful wall clock is called a \"Comtoise Tableaux\"
or Comtoise picture frame clocks ( aka: Morbier Bakers clock ).
On the dial is the name of the retailer, J.Thevenin of Moirans, France.
A clockmaker by the name of Aimes Thevenin worked in this region from 1873-1877.
This French Morbier wall clock has an ebonized curvilinear frame and
mother of Pearl inlay.
A glazed portion of the door follows the outlinesof the frame and covers the round porcelain dial with blue Roman numerals donein the cartouche style.
Both hands are original to this clock, are made ofstamped brass, and have an open ornate design.
THE MECHANISM NEEDS AN ADJUSTMENT AND CLEANING.
WHEN THE MECHANISM IS FULLY RESTORED -- it chimes every hour,
every 2 minutes AFTER the hour ( which was a great feature in a time when
you couldn\'t just turn on the light ), AND every half hour.
Condition of the clock case is very fine.
