Texas History Seguin Seven Timmermann Sisters Lot.
The Timmermann sisters from Seguin, Texas were four sisters who were instrumental in preserving the historic architecture of Seguin, a city located about 35 miles east of San Antonio. The sisters' names were Wanda, Hilda, Melitta, Willie Mae, Meta, Tekla, and Stella, Timmermann.
The Timmermann sisters were born in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and they all lived in a house on River Street in Seguin that was built by their grandfather. In the 1950s and 1960s, Seguin's historic downtown was threatened by urban renewal, and many of the old buildings were being torn down. The Timmermann sisters were concerned about this and worked to save as many of the historic buildings as possible.
The sisters formed the Seguin Conservation Society in 1952 and led efforts to preserve several historic buildings, including the Wilson Pottery site, the Magnolia Hotel, and the Sebastopol House. They also organized the first Pecan Fest Heritage Days in Seguin, which is now an annual event celebrating the city's history and culture.
The Timmermann sisters' dedication to preserving Seguin's historic architecture and promoting the city's heritage was recognized by the State of Texas in 1984, when they were inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame.
Please see photos. This item was rescued from an Austin area estate sale. No I don’t recall where exactly. The lot is from the sisters’ own private collection chronicling their journey to NYC for the “Two for the Money Show” as well as their inclusion in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not.”
There are also many photographs of their annual Christmas party, conservation efforts, and more. Please see photos.
