During WW II the US & Great Britain produced silk maps, actually made of rayon but
referred to as \"silk\" maps, which were issued to assist military personnel in evading
capture in enemy occupied territory in Europe.
Maps show information important to facilitating escape to friendly territory, such as
telegraph lines, railways, roads, rivers and streams, canals, marshes and swamps,
mountains & hill ranges, passes, towns of importance and more. Varying elevations
indicated by color, as well as information on settlements and terrain.This listing is for a Set of the original \"silk\" escape maps Versions 43 C/D and 43 E/F with original issue pouch.
43C/D map (printed on both sides), is 28 1/2 X 29 1/2 inches
side 1 - 43 C shows parts of Holland, Belgium (except W. Coast) France (No. E.), Germany (W. & Central).

side 2 - 43 D shows Belgium & Germany New Frontier which include
France So.E., Germany So.W, Switzerland (except So.E.)43E/F map (printed on both sides) is 34 1/2 X 29 1/2 inches
