Detailed history of the Mt. Washington Cog Railway from 1869-1969. Includes numerous black and white photos of almost every locomotive that has been used on the railway, as well as a roster of the locomotives and a bibliography. This book was published in 1969 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Cog Railway on Mount Washington in New Hampshire, the first mountain-climbing railway road ever built during the height of the industrial revolution in 1869.In the preface, the author explains..."That the Mt. Washington Railway (also known as the Railway to the Moon) could have been built over a hundred years ago and under just about the most difficult conditions possible, and within a period of about three years, warrants the tribute due to Mr. Sylvester Marsh by the publication of this comprehensive history of the Railway. Were he alive today, Sylvester Marsh could look back over the years and justly be proud of his outstanding accomplishment."
Also includes a small softcover book: Mt Washington Cog Railway, published by the railway itself, 1980, 44 pages. Very good.
Book: Minor wear at top of dust jacket otherwise very good. Dust jacket has been placed in a mylar protector.
