About the artist:Iskam Viktor Vasilyevich (1927 - 2010) - Ukrainian painter, graphic artist. Victor Vasilievich Iskam was born on January 1, 1927 in the family of a blacksmith in a. Old Poltavka, Stalingrad (now Volgograd) region, the center of the Stavropol canton of the Volga Germans. In 1944 he graduated with honors from school and was sent to study at the Odessa Maritime Institute. After half a year, Victor Iskam decided to change his future profession and entered the Odessa Art School, where he studied from 1945 to 1948. From 1948 to 1954 he studied in Leningrad at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I.E. Repin in the battle workshop of Rudolf Frenz. Iskam's graduation picture - "The feat of captain Rodionov" is presented in the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Communications Forces in St. Petersburg. From 1954 he lived in Kiev. The artist made his debut at the exhibition of books, book graphics and visual aids of the publishing house "Radyanska School", opened in 1955 in Kiev, in the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1957, the participant of the republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions. In 1961, V.V. Iskam was admitted to membership in the Union of Artists of Ukraine. He worked in the field of easel painting and graphics. Author of battle paintings, landscapes, portraits and still lifes. The artist wrote the diorama "Defense of Kremenets from the Tatar-Mongolian troops" (1982), presented in the Ternopil Regional Museum of Regional Studies and the diorama "Zvenigorod-Tarashchansky Uprising of 1918" (1984), presented in the Cherkassy Regional Museum of Regional Studies. Artworks Iskama V.V. presented in art museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
