Widely regarded as the first female cover artist of the pulp era, Margaret Brundage was best known for the 67 illustrations that spiced up the covers of the legendary pulp magazine Weird Tales. Brundage's iconic art frequently depicted scantily clad women in an array of salacious scenarios. Brundage's preferred medium of pastel lent a softness to the composition of her work which only intensified the subversive nature of its subject matter.
