Love Your God!
Rabbi - Torah Scribe Copy 33 of 40
This is a very special micrography lithograph work, created by Rabbi Ben Zion Bar Ami.
The title of the work is \"Love Your God!\", as noted in the bottom right corner. The subject of the work is the Rabbi, the Torah Scribe, who is in the process of writing the Torah on a scroll (the \"ancient sacred Jewish Kindle book\" - so to say.According to the Jewish laws, the Torah scroll has to be hand-written. The scribe (the writer) has to be a trained individual who is devout and knowledgeable in the art of proper writing and assembling of the scroll.
In this specific work the Rabbi is writing the Love Your God Parasha (chapter). The main concept is that Fear and Love your God are the basis for any religious. The work depicts many examples of the words (in Hebrew) Fear and Love and also presents many contrasts- just to mention a few:1. The Rabbi is dressed in black (fear) , but his face and beard are white (love)2. The window is open (love) but the door is closed (fear)3. Darkness through the window (fear) but the door is white and bright (love)4. Moon and stars glow through the window (love) while the door has fear related text on itThis one is tough:5. The Rabbi\'s right eye is open (love) while the left eye is closed (fear)and a few more...
Here is some other secret inscribed in this work:The number 7 is considered to represent natural sacred. Then, the number 8 is representing super-natural sacredness.Given those two numbers:The multiplication of 7 and 8 = 56 is the number of lines composing the Rabbi figureThe sum , 15, is the number of lines composing the window.
There are a few other hidden concepts, such as to do with the candle-holder and the candle, the door and more.
On the bottom left corner, the artist has signed the work (\"Bar Ami\"). The copy number is noted in Hebrew letters, 34 of 40.
The work is framed with a new metal frame, which can be hanged as well as leaned backwards (as depicted in the photo).External dimensions with the frame: 31.5 X 22.2 cms, 12.4\" X 8.7\"Dimensions of the visible painting: 24.3 X 18.5 cms, 9.5\" X 7.25\"
