I Am a Barbarianis a historical novel byEdgar Rice Burroughswritten in 1941 but was not published until after the author\'s death, first appearing in hardback on September 1, 1967 as published byEdgar Rice Burroughs, Inc.. In this novel, Edgar Rice Burroughs reincarnates the chariot races, the intrigues, the people, the sights and sounds of Imperial Rome. He paints a vivid picture of the life of Britannicus Caligulae Servus, the personal slave of mad emperor Caligula.
“Only the imagination of Edgar Rice Burroughs could have reincarnated the chariot races, the intrigues, the people, and the sights and sounds of long-dead Imperial Rome. And now the brilliant team of writer Tom Simmons, artist Mike Dubisch, and letterer Jamal Walton brings this larger than life tale – with itsvivid story, art and period authenticity – to life in this new Comic Strip.“
Mike was a near prodigy in the world of comics, beginning his career at 15. The artist never stopped drawing the subjects he enjoyed in these young years- Fantastic worlds and bizarre creatures, dynamic warriors and exotic females.
Mike has since contributed to the worlds of Star Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, and Aliens VS Predator.
Called “one of the grand old men of horror comics” by comic art historian and journalist Stephen R. Bissette, Mike Dubisch has been publishing art and stories in horror comic anthologies since his teens in the 1980’s to the present day.
Dubisch was a student of the legendary cartoonists Will Eisner and Walter Simonson, and has worked for DC, MARVEL, Image and Dark Horse comics.
Dubisch’s illustrations have appeared in the magazines Weird Tales, Science Fiction Age, and the H. P. Lovecraft Magazine of Horror, as well as the animated film Howard Lovecraft and the Undersea Kingdom and many independent productions.
His art has been used in toy design and illustration for Star Wars and Dungeons and Dragons role playing games, covers for Aliens VS Predator, and graphic adaptations of children\'s literature and pulp fiction
With fewer and fewer artists working traditionally, and even fewer illustrators pursuing a classical approach, art of this nature has increasing collectability. Additionally, limited run art books and graphic novels by this artist are showing impressive appreciation in value. Get ahead of the market and invest now while these pieces are affordable!
