Drummer Boy Civil War Letter Point of Rocks Maryland . 9th Vermont Infantry Monkton Vt.. Condition is "Used". Fordyce Peck is a drummer boy in the 9th Vermont infantry writing to his father and mom from Point of Rocks Maryland on March 20 (1864). He is It does include the cover envelope sent to his mother in Monkton Vermont. His Heath has gotten better until the day before yesterday, but he was taken by fever, but he thinks it has broken. Not much news but a battle on right of the Army of the James. His regiment has been paid. Signed F.A Peck.
Fordyce musters in the 9th Vermont at 15 years old in December 1863, he is 16 at the time he writes this letter. He is in the drummer Corp of this regiment. Drummer boy letters are hard to come by.
