ANTIQUE CABINET CARD PHOTOGRAPH OF A MAN IN UNIFORM. Handwritten in pencil on the back: \"Dr. Wm H Emery Surgeon Roxbury Light Guard 1880?\"Under the heading PHYSICIANS, the 1879, 1880, and 1884 Boston Almanac and Directory have listings for William H. Emery at 1178 Tremont Street (1879, 1880) and 1177 Tremont Street (1884). Those are the only years I checked.
PHOTOGRAPHER. On front, at bottom of mount: \"McFadden 6 Winter St., Boston.\"According to Directory of Massachusetts Photographers 1839-1900, by Chris Steele and Ron Polito, James A. McFadden was at 6 Winter Street from 1882-1885.
SIZE. Approximately 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches.
CONDITION. Photo: Soiling. Foxing. Other spots. Some mottling on his torso and sleeve at left. Curved light colored mark at bottom, left side, on and below his belt. Mount: Wear around edges and at corners. Soiling on front and back.
APPEARANCE. The top of his head is somewhat washed out. Otherwise, good tones. Nice lighting on the uniform, nice shine to the buttons and cords.
