CAS Iberia Ninjato High Carbon Spring Steel Cocobolo Ninja Sword:
Good evening folks! Lookie what I got! I have a gorgeous CAS Iberia Ninja-to sword. Talk about a find! These swords haven’t been made for damn near 20 years! This is original. Absolutely beautiful Cocobolo wood hilt with NO CRACKS at all! Very well taken care of. It’s been sitting in my collection for a very long time and has been cleaned twice a year.
The Hilt has been hand rubbed with linseed oil every time it’s been cleaned. The wood is warm, extremely solid, and glows like only exotic Cocobolo wood can. The grain of the grip is magnificent and catches the eye from any angle. It feels great in the hand as well. No chips, No cracks, or anything at all like that.
The High Carbon steel blade was forged from the leaf spring of a car or truck just like all of the old blades of CAS Iberia. Since it was made in the Philippines, you know that the process was done right. It even has the hand hammered marks still on the blade. I’ve cleaned it twice a year with Flitz compound so that it not only glows, its protected from moisture and humidity. The blade has never, ever been used to cut anything more than paper either. It has the usual scuff marks from being drawn and re-sheathed, and one tiny little scratch which I’ve shown. The blade also has a very sharp working edge too. Whats even more significant is that the tip has never been used to pierce ANYTHING but cardboard. There is absolutely no rounding or spawling of it. It’s very sharp and you need to be VERY careful with it.
The Tsuba (or Guard) is made of solid brass and shines really bright as you can see. The IBERIA PHILIPPINES stamping is still clearly visible as well! The fittings for the hilt are also solid brass. There are the usual small marks from moving around so much, and the tsuba has become slightly loose, but I’m sure that it can be shimmed fairly easily (I tried with high density black sewing thread and it seems to work for the most part). It’s a really solid piece that begs to be enjoyed in a good home.
The scabbard is the original black lacquered hard wood, but it had developed a crack at the throat of it. Rather than try to reseal it and screw it up, it was wrapped in high quality 550 cord to make it even more durable than it originally was. It also serves to protect it (and the sword) from many moves and storage. It may be a little dusty on one side, but it’s easy to clean.
That’s the FULL DISCLOSURE on this sword folks. Overall, I know that you will be as pleased with this rare piece as I was. I hate to give it up, but family comes first and they are in need of the $$$. The price may seem a little high to non-collectors, but you simply can’t find these on the market anymore. Hell, you can’t barely find a picture of one on google, they are THAT rare. Its really a great investment piece since they will never be made again and in certain circles, they are highly coveted. I simply don’t have the time to broker a deal with “right” collectors.
I’ve included as many detailed pics as I can, so please go over them carefully and decide for yourself. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Don’t kick yourself for passing up this once in a lifetime opportunity to own a rare sword from CAS Iberia. Do your own research and please, feel free to share it with me! Have a great evening and thank you for taking the time to read all this.
