An Original 1862 Copy Certificate for the Hartford New Haven and Springfield Rail Road transport of the 8th Vermont Regiment and Battery, total numbering 1158 men and 15 car loads of freight from Springfield to New Haven sixty two miles by Order of Stephen Thomas, Col Commanding, by JS Barstow Adjutant, addressed to George E Smith Quartermaster 8th Regt Vt Vol., with note that the original certificate has been sent to HJ Wright of the NH Springfield Company Office March 22, 1862. 1p blue paper, 8 x 7z' ink.
