Other: Irving S. Underhill (1872-1960) was a prolific architectural photographer working in New York from 1896 through 1950 creating a remarkable record of New York’s rich architectural heritage. This view shows the building at 823-235 Madison Avenue. The storefront reads Schwartz & Goodman Certified Cleaners & Dyers. There are patriotic signs in the windows. This building was originally constructed in 1880, then modified in 1923 by James Casale. In 1930 this commercial space was occupied by Paul Suval, Inc., a gallery and art materials establishment.
