Authentic original hand colored etching ( leau forte ) signed by the artist Paul Geissler. Mr Geissler was born in Germany ( 1881 - 1965 ). He signed as Professor Paul Geissler, with professor abbreviated. He traveled to Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, France and other countries including the US. He is a listed artist. This etching in particular, is rare and scarce, as I cannot find another one ( though I believe more than one exists ). This has the original nice plate impression, the plate signature dating to 1920. Paper is made of wood and cotton, NOT laid, NO paper manufacturer's watermark. I do not know the exact date, the etching plate was struck. This was a Christmas gift from J. H. Holan Corporation in Cleveland Ohio ( which you can look up, as their business was heavy equipment and trucks ) This is a Christmas gift and etching shows some Christmas colors, but that does not infer the etching is the Christmas season, thought it may or may not be. Condition of actual etching is very good, with No holes, NO repairs, NO scratches, NO deep creases, but a few finger presses on back, which are very hard to see on front and one very slight crease, which is more like a slight buckle than crease .
The remained of the folder, the etching is printed on, has some creases, slight stains, marks, age toning and shows shelf wear, but the actual image is very good. The plate impression is clearly seen around etching and on back also. This is a wonderful etching, as it is untouched in size and never cleaned, a rare find, and also NOT framed. When etchings are framed, one never knows what is underneath. This is hand painted by artist / etcher in watercolor ( watercolour ). All the writing underneath image is in pencil. Overall size is approximately 13.25 by 14.5 inches, with image sizebeing approximately 8.5 by 8 10/16 inches.

Paul Geissler hand signed and wrote in pencil and hand signed in pencil. I cannot read his writing. I believe this is Rosenberg or Rothenburg Germany, but I am not certain. I am not able to find an image of the clock tower or the fountain, but the place can be identified, . A beautiful old German village. Writing is in German. Front reads in type " Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and J. H. Holan Corporation Cleveland, Ohio.

Please write any and all questions prior to offerding. Thank you.
