Antique Original 1840s Russian Empire Leather helmet Lower rank 5th artillery :
An extremely rare artillery helmet in good condition for an item of attic preservation. Unlike helmets with simple infantry eagles, the artillery one is on sale for the first time. The helmet is completely complete, the skin is slightly shrunken, but it is quite elastic and does not require any conservation interventions. The fittings are brass, on the spire of the finial there is a trace of a saber(?) impact(shown in the photo). An interesting feature of the helmet is the presence of an officer's bill of lading(!) number" 5" on the shield of the cockade, which was a certain liberty of that time. The helmet was introduced to wear on May 9, 1844, in place of the shako for army infantry and artillery regiments. In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grenadier brigades, it was worn with sultans made of black, in the tambour-majors, musicians and drummers made of red hair, and the rest of the army artillery-without a sultan. Guarantee of authenticity. The rarest museum-level item, we recommend it!
