Original circa 1859 ninth-plate ambrotype photo of John Downer Bridgman, the brother the famous blind educator Laura Dewey Bridgman. The three pieces of paper shown are included - they have been placed back in the case behind the ambrotype.
On one piece of paper in period handwritten ink is, "Jno. D. Bridgman June 1862".
Housed in its original union case with manufacturer's label inside. The ambrotype is in undamaged condition behind mat and glass. The case is in very good to excellent antique condition. 3 1/8" x 2 3/4" closed.
