Hello fellow meteorite enthusiasts,Here we proudly present the newest and only CM 1/2 witnessed FALL on planet Earth. Included are two halves: one larger weighing in at 19.5 grams and the smaller one at8.57 grams for a combined total weight of 28.07 g.
Officially classified in the Meteoritical Bulletin as Kolang. This meteorite comes with extensive provenance documentation, pictures and exact find coordinates! Through extensive work I was able to negotiate with a local who lives in the area where the meteorite fell to obtain this specimen. Only 3 specimens from this fall are known. Jay Piatek owns the main mass. The second individual disintegratedin mud with only fragments being available making this 28g individual being offered for sale in this lot the only one known meteorite from this fall to be intact albeit in two pieces broken upon impact.
The local man first sent me the package through regular Indonesian mail using the EMS express service but after a month and a half Indonesian customs rejected the package for export and returned it to him. Luckily he was able to reacquire the package and travel to Medan, the provincial capital and sent the package using FedEx. This service proved to be successful, and we received the package the following week.
