2 Antique CDV Photographs New Orleans B&G Moses Father & Son? Pre-1869:
Lot of 2 antique photograph CDV ( Cartes de Visite) taken at the studio of B&G Moses of New Orleans. Appears that they could be father and son, images were found together. B&G Moses was an active studio from 1858 to 1869.
Partners were brothers Bernard Moses (1832-99, born Bavaria, Germany, died New Orleans) and Gustave Moses (1836-1915, born Bavaria, Germany, died New Orleans). They were primarily photographers and specialized in coloring photographs, enlarging photo-portraits and copying photographs into oil paintings. Bernard produced a number of crayon and oil portraits. Gustave also did some portraits but was mainly a photographer and continued this practice his entire career. Both brothers learned photography from their father Samuel Moses, a pioneer New Orleans photographer. Although the firm name of B & G. Moses ceased after 1869, the brothers were listed as partners at various times throughout their careers.
