Very nice piece of history here.Autographs include: 1888-1892 Union County Sheriff Y.F. Goodwin 1889-1893 Governor of Arkansas James Philip Eagle 1888-1893 Secretary of State Hon. Benjamin B Chism (BB Chism)
Condition: Paper has folds because the Sheriff had to carry the warrant in his vest pocket while on horseback. Paper has some aging and discoloration as expected being 127 years old.
Document reads:
\"THE STATE OF ARKANSAS (EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT) THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS. To All to Whom These Presents Shall Come--Greeting: Know Ye, That i accordance and in compliance with the Constitution and Laws of the United states and of this State, I have authorized and empowered, and by these presents do authorize and empower Y. F. Goodwin as messenger and agent on the part of this State, to recieve from the proper authorities of the State of Louisiana Louis Gonde who stands charged by Indictment with the crime of assault with intent to kill & murder committed in the County of Union in this State, and is now a fugitive from justice, and convey him to this State to the Sheriff of said County where the offense was committed. All persons are therefore requested to permit the said agent at his own proper cost to remove the said fugitive unmolested into this State, the said agent peaceably and lawfully behaving. No expense except actual traveling from Union County Arkansas to Union Perish Louisiana & return will be paid by this State. In Testimony Whereof, I hereunto set my hand and cause to be affixed the great Seal of the State. Done at City of Little Rock, this 11th day of [not sure what this says] A.
