Here we have an 1879 portrait of L A Hamilton the CPR land Commissioner and one of Vancouver's first aldermen Vancouver BC Canada. He was instrumental in laying out Vancouver's first streets. It is 4 X 2 1/2 inches. A copy of this exact image is in the Vancouver Archives. This excerpt is taken from the City of Vancouver Archives:
Lauchlan Hamilton was the CPR land commissioner and one of Vancouver's first aldermen who, starting in 1885 as a young man of 33, surveyed much of Vancouver and named many of its streets. (A plaque commemorating his work is on the building at the southwest corner of Hamilton and Hastings, once a bank.)
This a very important piece of Vancouver history. I doubt you will see another.
