BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE LEATHER-BOUND FAMILY PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM (35 CDVs & 11 TINTYPES), MOST IDENTIFIED, INCLUDING THE BAILEY, PALMER, AND GOODRICH FAMILIES. Saxtons River, Vermont: Compiled by Caroline Bailey (née Palmer), circa 1860s. The album measures circa 6.25 x 5 inches (2 inches thick), finely grained brown leather, raised panel on front cover, spine stamped in gilt, 25 double-sided leaves, all edges gilt, original metal clasp, illustrated with 35 CDVs and 11 tintypes. Owner’s name on title leaf: “Mrs. Emory Bailey, Saxtons River, Vermont” [née Caroline Palmer]. An absolutely stunning album, with most of the subjects identified, including Mr. & Mrs. Emory & Caroline Bailey (née Palmer), Sidney E. Bailey, Mrs. C. H. Ranney (née Hattie R. Bailey), Dr. Samuel Bailey, Gideon & Lorette Palmer, Anna & Will Bailey, Eben Bailey, Mr. & Mrs. Goodrich (of Kalamazoo, MI), several other Goodrich children, Sarah Leonard, Foster Locke (of Sidney Saxtons River, VT), Cutler & Harriet Blodgett (née Palmer), Sidney & Hattie Bailey, Miss Roda Palmer, Sidney E. Bailey Sr. & Jr. et al, plus 3 “placeholder” CDVs from “Arthur’s Illustrated Home Magazine” depicting allegorical scenes. The album and 46 photographs are in excellent condition. Spot of wear at crown of spine, few tiny tears to mats, metal clasp intact. A wonderful piece of family history. The compiler of this album, Caroline Palmer Bailey (1820-1903), was a member of the Mt. Holyoke College Seminary Class of 1841. She married Emory Bailey in 1843.
